Ever since the masses caught on to using Pay-Per-Click advertising to generate inexpensive traffic to their websites, there are no shortages of the number of tools and resources available to help you in your quest to master the techniques involved in running your own ads.

Before I share the tools I highly recommend, I would like to make you aware that you must chose which pay-per-click search engines you plan on using to run your ads.

Even though there are several other Pay-Per-Click search engines out there, I highly recommend you stick with Google Adwords or Yahoo Search Marketing, because not only are they more reputable, but provides a better support infrastructure, better technology to track ad clicks, prevent click fraud, has more website traffic, and more advertisers.

Google is my number one pick out of the two major pay-per-click search engines, because:

  • Google will reward your ad by giving it a better placement, even if the person above you paid more money to get that higher placement, if your ads are more relevant to what people are searching for.
  • Google Adwords allows you to almost instantly have your ads go live after you activate them. Unlike Yahoo Search Marketing, which at the time of this writing, takes anywhere from 2-5 days to be manually approved.
  • Google Adwords protects the details of your marketing campaign from your less savvy competitors. The main details that they’re not able to see is your ad bid amounts and your Click-Through Rates (CTR). If your competitors knew that information, they could tweak it and steal away your prospects.
